Some former Municipal, Metropolitan and District Chief Executives, who served under the Mills-Mahama government, have talked down the feasibility of the New Patriotic Party’s Free Senior High School Policy.
According to them, it is not clear what the policy entails and the NPP has failed to tell Ghanaians how it will implement it if elected into office.
Addressing the press, the former MMDCEs said they are supportive of a progressive introduction of Free SHS as enshrined in the constitution.
“Ghanaians will be too gullible to accept false claims of ownership of the Free Secondary School education by the opposition parties,” said Victor Nyanyikablan, Former Jomoro DCE.
“The 1992 Constitution gives priority to the implementation of FCUBE and not Free Secondary Education.”
He took a swipe at NPP’s Flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo accusing him of possessing dictatorial traits.
“A person’s attitude is an expression of his values, beliefs and expectations,” said Mr Nyanyikablan.
“The attitude of Nana Akufo-Addo depicts his dictatorial tendencies. Ghanaians must therefore beware not to make a mistake to accept the populist Free Secondary School campaign message being touted by the NPP and Nana Akufo-Addo.”
