The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has noted with sadness the sudden demise of Ambassador James Emmanuel Kwegyir Aggrey-Orleans, which occurred on the dawn of November 19, 2018. Ambassador Aggrey-Orleans joined the administrative class of the Ghana Foreign and Diplomatic Service in 1963 and became well known for his professionalism and versatility. The highlights of his distinguished career include his role as Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK) and his appointment as Acting Clerk to Parliament and Head of the Parliamentary Service. He was also appointed and served as Assistant Director (In-Charge of the Economic Information and Market Intelligence Division) of the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), a commodity organization established in 1987 by the United (UN) to promote tropical Forest Conservation and Timber trade. Ambassador Aggrey-Orleans is remembered for maintaining very close links with the Ministry even after his voluntary retirement. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has since visited the bereaved family to commiserate with them. She has also signed the book of condolence opened for the distinguished ambassador, a statement from the ministry noted. She was accompanied by the Chief Director of the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Albert Yankey, Director — Office of the Hon. Minister, Mrs Sena Siaw—Boateng and the Chief of Protocol Mr Samuel Kumah “On behalf of the Hon. Minister for of Foreign Affairs and Regional integration, Management and Staff of MFARI —Ghana, we extend to Mrs Agnes Aggrey-Orleans, also a Retired Career Diplomat and the bereaved family our deepest condolences. “May the Soul of Ambassador James Emmanuel Kwegyir Aggrey- Orleans Rest in Perfect Peace.” Source: editors.3news.com | Ghana
