Foreign Affairs Minister signs Lebanese book of condolence

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, has signed a book of condolences at the Lebanese embassy in honour of victims of the Beruit explosion.

This follows the devastating explosion in the Lebanese capital, Beirut on August 4 which killed at least 200 people and injured around 5,000 others.

The minister signed the book on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the people of Ghana.

A statement by the minister described the happenings as “most unfortunate and regrettably poses an even greater challenge to the Lebanese government and its people.”

The minister sent the thoughts of the president and Ghanaians to the people of Lebanon.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families, the wounded and the displaced.

May Allah be their comfort, and may the souls of the departed rest in peace”, parts of the statement reads.
