The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and the United States Department of Justice have strengthened the existing ties between the two institutions.

This was after a six-member team from the US Department of Justice and US Embassy paid a working visit to EOCO on Thursday, 7th of December, 2023.

The team, led by Mr. Jeffrey M. OLSON, Associate Director, Office of International Affairs (OIA), met with the Executive Director, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah and some staff in her Office at EOCO.

They discussed issues pertaining to the fight against Organised and Transnational Crimes.

In welcoming the team, the Executive Director recounted the long-standing working relations between EOCO, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the Department of Justice. She noted that the collaboration between these institutions has deepened even further in recent times. She also acknowledged that EOCO has been a beneficiary of a number of training programmes – both internally and abroad – as a result of this collaboration.

The Executive Director went on to say that, the new Mission and Vision of the Office required that officers be well trained in order to stay ahead of Economic and Organised Crime and also be able to secure successful convictions in cases that are investigated.

Mr. Jeffrey M. OLSON recalled that, over the years, they have partnered with EOCO to retrieve stolen monies, properties and other proceeds of crime but given the scale of Transnational Organised Crimes, it has become very critical to deepen existing collaboration with partner agencies like EOCO to take profit out of crime.
