England legend tips Pep Guardiola as best solution to Three Lions’ struggles

England legend Glenn Hoddle has suggested that hiring Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola would be the ideal solution to the Three Lions’ struggles.

Despite England’s abundance of talented players over the years, they have consistently fallen short of their international goals. Many attribute the team’s lack of trophies to current coach Gareth Southgate.

Speaking to Sun Football, Glenn Hoddle suggested the solution to the team’s struggles could come from Pep Guardiola.

“With this crop of players, I think Pep would do wonders with it. It would cost a lot of money [to bring him in] but he might actually be ready for a bit of international football. He knows this country. I think he’d look at all them players and go ‘Wow, I could do some damage for them,” he said.

Glenn also pinpointed that even if Southgate wins the 2024 Euros, he’s bound to pass the torch.

“I think if Gareth wins it, he goes, and if he doesn’t, he’ll go. Because if he wins it, he’s young enough to come back again. Gareth’s young enough. Going to club football. Even if he wasn’t good at club football, [people could think] ‘Hang on a minute, perhaps he prefers international management. And he won the Euros for us. Bang! Oh, we’ll have him back’. So that would be a shrewd move in my opinion.”

With four points already won, England could progress to the round of sixteen and would hope things change quickly if they want to stand a chance of winning the tournament.
