Students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have clashed with security on campus during a march to protest claimed brutality unleashed on them last week. The protest march, which began peacefully at Peace Junction on Monday, has degenerated into chaos as the students fly stones at vehicles of security personnel, deployed to ensure peace. They have set property at the KNUST Security Secretariat ablaze, 3news.com‘s Kwame Baffoe Agyekum reported on Monday. Security personnel had to run for their lives as the irate students appeared unstoppable, our correspondent said. The protesting students have left in their trail vandalised property. Reinforcement was called in from the Ghana Police Service but they retreated after firing some warning shots, hoping to return with an increased personnel. The students are protesting the brutality they claim was meted out to them by KNUST security while on a ‘morale’ exercise. They claim the officers used tasers on them, leaving one person hospitalised. Eleven students including an alumnus were picked up. By Emmanuel Kwame Amoh|3news.com|Ghana ]]>
