UCC SRC President fulfils promise by providing free ID stickers to taxi drivers

In a remarkable show of leadership and commitment on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Students’ Representative Council (SRC), under the presidency of Abraham Norman Nortey, fulfilled its promise to all UCC-affiliated taxi drivers by providing them with free UCC taxi identification stickers.

The initiative, aimed at improving security and ease of identification for both students and drivers, comes as part of the SRC’s broader efforts to enhance student welfare and transportation services on campus.

This gesture underscores the leadership’s dedication to fostering a safer and more structured transport system within the university community.

During the distribution event, Miss Lauren Baaba Annan, speaking on behalf President Abraham Norman Nortey, emphasized the importance of the initiative, noting that it would not only help students easily identify registered taxis but also boost the credibility of the drivers who operate within the university environment.

“This is a step towards ensuring that our students have access to safe and recognized transportation services on campus,” Miss Baaba Annan stated.

“The SRC is committed to initiatives that directly impact student life, and we will continue to deliver on our promises.”

Several taxi drivers expressed their gratitude for the initiative, highlighting the financial relief it provided and the benefits of being easily identifiable to students.

With the 62nd SRC administration in full swing, this initiative adds to a growing list of student-centered projects aimed at leaving a lasting impact on the UCC community.

As the leadership continues to work towards fulfilling its campaign pledges, students and stakeholders remain hopeful for even more transformative interventions.

The SRC’s commitment to delivering on promises continues to resonate with the student body, setting a standard for proactive and impactful governance within the university.
