Management of the University Ghana, Legon says adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of students and all workers on the university campus. This was contained in a statement signed by the university’s Director of Public Affairs Stella A. Amoa who noted that measures put in place will go a long way to keep all safe on campus. “Management would like to inform members of the University Community, parents and the general public that a number of safety and security measures have been put in place to enhance security on campus both in the short and long term.” The assurance from management of the university is on the back of an attack on a student last Sunday, May 5, 2019. Suspected robbers attacked one Daniel Osei who is a final year Psychology student at the university. The student who sustained cutlass wounds was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital for treatment. Addressing the issue, the university’s management noted that they are carrying out investigations into the attack. “The Ghana Police and the National Security, assisted by the University security are conducting investigations into the incident. A report will be issued once investigations are completed and the University receives a report.” Management also said a team of University officials led by the Vice-Chancellor and representatives from the student leadership have visited the victim at the hospital, and that he is stable and responding to treatment. They assured that the student leadership is being closely worked with to ensure that everyone is kept safe on the university campus. Source: editors.3news.com|Ghana
