Some students of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) have been arrested by the police, 3news.com has gathered.

The students, most of whom are affiliated to Atlantic Hall, were arrested in Kumasi and transferred to Cape Coast, where they have been kept in custody since Saturday.

It is unclear what triggered the arrest but 3news.com sources say it is connected with the recent clash between students of Atlantic Hall and Oguaa Hall.

That clash left several property of the school vandalized and some students hospitalized.

The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of UCC has since visited the Central Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service to keep abreast of the situation.

A statement issued by the student body said leadership will continue to “engage relevant stakeholders and see to a positive turnout of the situation”.

After the clash in the wee hours of Saturday, February 22, the university authorities banned all hall week celebrations, a decision that did not go down well with the SRC.

The SRC expressed disagreement with the decision and offered to engage management further on the way forward.
