Over 2,000 eligible students projected to be registered in Walewale

The Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) as part of steps to include Senior High School students in the ongoing voter registration exercise has planned to capture 2,442 students in four Senior High Schools in the Walewale Constituency. The schools are Walewale Technical Senior High School, Walewale Vocational Technical Senior High School, Nasia Senior High School and Wulugu Senior High School. The exercise started on Friday, July 10 and ended Saturday. In an interview, Municipal EC Director Rauf A. Adam indicated that the EC was set for the exercise in all four Senior High Schools. According to him, students captured included final year students and second year Gold Track students. “Four registration teams have been deployed into four senior high schools for the exercise and a student population of two thousand four hundred and forty two (2,442) are expected to register,” he had earlier said. “This includes final year students and Gold Track students, so I’m told.” Veronica buckets, sanitizers and nose masks were provided at various registration centers in the schools and students without nose masks were provided some. Before the exercise began, the Municipal EC Directorate organized a meeting with the political parties to explained the modalities regarding the process to them. A visit to two of the schools, Walewale Vocational Technical and the Walewale Technical Senior High School, showed that registration started with teachers. There was also health personnel at each of these schools taking the temperature of registrants. By Issifu Mahama Mashood|editors.3news.com|North East Region|Ghana
