Member of Parliament for Kwesimintsim in the Western Region Dr. Prince Hamid-Armah has instituted an award scheme for students in his constituency.

Christened ‘DPHA Education Excellence Award’, it will, among many categories, recognise and celebrate the best performing school and students in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

“The DPHA Education Excellence Awards will also recognise, celebrate and reward the most distinguished headteacher, teacher and administrative officer in my beloved Kwesimintsim Constituency,” a statement conveying the MP’s goodwill message to this year’s BECE students and educational institutions announced.

Dr. Hamid-Armah encouraged the candidates to believe in themselves, showcase their knowledge and hard work as “your dedication and efforts will shape your future and open doors to endless opportunities…”

“Studying and preparing for the BECE might seem tough but every minute you invest in your education brings you closer to your dreams. Keep your goals in mind and let that vision drive you to remain focused and committed.”

A professional teacher, the MP pointed out that throughout his teaching experience, he has witnessed the unassailable growth that comes from persistence and dedication and charged the candidates to study with passion.

According to him, even though there will be challenges and times when they feel like giving up, it will be instructive for them to “face them, conquer them and let them fuel your desire to succeed”.

He also entreated headteachers, teachers and administrative officers to continue providing the candidates with the necessary guidance and support they need to guarantee good grades.

“Motivate them to believe in themselves, study diligently and to persevere even when the road seems tough.”

Some 3,265 candidates from 99 schools are participating in this year’s BECE in the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly.
