The second day of the stakeholders’ forum organized by the Electoral Commission of Ghana saw political party and players make presentations to the public.

Among the political parties which made presentations at the Alisa Hotel in Accra on Friday, October 30 are National Democratic Party (NDP), Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Independent People’s Party (IPP), National Reform Party (NRP) and Yes People’s Party (YPP).

Aside the NDP, whose presentation was led by Acting General Secretary Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong, the other political parties were led by their founders.

Akua Donkor, for instance, represented the GFP, calling for an audit of the current register and not a replacement. She spoke in local language Twi.

2012 Presidential Candidate Jacob Osei Yeboah, popularly known as JOY 2012, also made a presentation. He argued that auditing of the register could end up seeing another registration, which amounts to a new register.

IPP’s Kofi Akpaloo minced no words that the current register should not be changed.

Anim Kofi Addo of YPP said a credible register depends on the resolve of all Ghanaians to have one.

NRP’s David Percy said no new register is needed and that political parties should rather have compelling policies to win votes.

NDP called for a new register, a confirmation of the stance of founder Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, who was at the venue on Friday.
