Don’t fail your constituents – Tamale North MP advises new lawmakers

Alhassan Suhuyini

Member of Parliament for Tamale North and newly nominated Deputy Minister for Roads & Highways – designate, Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini has urged new lawmakers to serve with integrity, honour, and a commitment to the nation’s greater good.

In an interview with 3FM Morning Show host Johnnie Hughes on February 6, the three-term legislator and broadcast journalist admonished that “it may look frustrating, time-wasting, and daunting, but it gets better. Be open-minded to learning, be a man of your principles, and not be fixated on one thing.”

Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini again told first-term MPs to ensure they fulfil their promise to electorates. “Your constituents queued under the scorching sun to vote for you because of the trust they have in you. Don’t fail them,” the MP advised.

The Members of Parliament of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic was sworn in on January 7, 2025, bringing in both new and experienced MPs to steer the country’s legislative path.

This momentous occasion came after the presidential and parliamentary elections held in December 2024, ushering in a new era of democracy in Ghana.

115 first-term Members of Parliament (MPs) have been added to the 9th Parliament, which will infuse the legislative process with new ideas, views, and vitality.
