Nigerian journalist Kemi Olunloyo cautioned girls not to get pregnant because a man promised to marry her. She shared her story of how she got pregnant at 23 with no ring and no man.
Kemi Olunloyo has joined in the trend of how single mothers survived without their baby-daddy. She added her voice to the conversation and said women should not make the permanent life-changing decision because of flimsy promises.
According to her, she got pregnant at 23 years with a popular Nigerian big boy. Unfortunately, he did not fulfil his marriage promise because his mother said the baby was not for her son. She said that although the man’s father had accepted the situation, she was abandon and called a liar.
She wrote, “That man is someone you all know. I raised my son, who will be 35yo without a father. At the time, his father’s side accepted the fact that I was right. But his mother said he was old enough to father a child and called me a liar. Both parents are now dead. He was 31 when I was 23yo. So 57 in 60 days makes him 65yo. Some huge public figures reached out to me to see if he ever asked for his child? I told them not in 35 years. Everybody talks about the resemblance. Some of this man’s big boys friends in Ikoyi are actually shocked he fathered a child WITH KEMI OLUNLOYO and never supported the child but ending their friendships with him I hear. We have moved on. Don’t let it happen to you young ladies.”
Kemi said she has not seen or heard from this man since she got pregnant for him. She advised women to get educated and have something for themselves before making any huge decisions.
