Death of Ahmed Suale: GJA to petition ECOWAS Community Court if Police doesn’t provide update

Mr Albert Dwumfuor, GJA President.

The President of Ghana Journalist Association, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour has bemoaned the delay in securing justice for slain journalist Ahmed Suale and Latif Iddrisu as well as other journalists who have been attacked in the line of duty.

He made this statement during a press conference on February 18.

Mr. Dwumfour declared that “We shall proceed to ECOWAS Community Court of Justice to pursue justice for Ahmed Suale and Latif Iddrisu if we don’t hear from the Police by end of March”.

He revealed that he had a meeting with IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare on February 17. “He gave me high assurances, so we still remain faithful to our demands,” the GJA President said.

Latif Iddrisu

He added that “We have witnessed 7 cases of assault against journalists in barely 50 days into second administration of John Mahama and urge President as the Commander and Chief of Ghana Armed Forces, he should take personal interest in the cases and help arrest the perpetrators and prosecute them”.
