Ghanaians have begun a boycott Bolt social media campaign over assault allegations on a rider by a Bolt driver.

The #BoycottBolt campaign began when a customer, on X, recounted her ordeal with a Bolt driver who allegedly physically attacked and robbed her over a delayed mobile transaction.

Her account

The X user in question was physically assaulted and robbed of her phone when she tried to pay the fare using a mobile transaction which was delayed. She revealed that this incident marks the second time she has faced trouble with a Bolt driver. Previously, she narrowly escaped a life-threatening accident with another driver, and now, this latest driver not only assaulted her severely but also snatched her phone before speeding off.

Amidst the #BoycottBolt movement, numerous Bolt riders have come forward to share their own experiences with the ride-hailing app.
