Between now and December 11, each of the judges will have a full week session with the Committee where they will be required to defend themselves in the allegations against them in a bid to avoid being removed as a judges.
At the hearing, the judges will have the opportunity to respond to the bribery allegations and cross-examine ace investigative journalists, Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team whose painstaking investigation revealed the alleged rot in the country’s judiciary.
The seven, Justices John AjetNasam, Ivy Heward-Mills, Francis K. Opoku, Kofi Essel Mensah, Ernest Obimpeh, Kwame OheneEssel and GilberAyisi Addo have since October 5 been suspended on grounds of “stated misbehaviour”.
Their suspension by the President followed the establishment of a prima facie case against them by the Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood.
The seven were among 12 High Court judges and other judicial staff including lower court judges implicated in the scandalous judicial corruption documentary produced by ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
Justice John Ajet Nassam, who was expected to have appeared before the committee this week to answer the charge against him, is yet to appear. He is reportedly to have disappear and the Bureau of National Investigations said to be looking for his whereabouts.
The Committee has, however, stated that it would go ahead with the hearing without him.
