Chef Faila in an emotional mood during her interview

Executive Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak on Thursday, January 18 shed tears live on air during an interview with Cookie Tee on TV3’s New Day.

Chef Failatu who is awaiting official confirmation of her 227 hours for the longest cooking marathon by an individual suddenly turned emotional while answering a question about what inspired her 227 hours cook-a-thon.

“Calculate all the other hours in addition to the 120 hours. It was for my loved ones, it was for all the people who supported me in my lowest. It was for the people who saw me in my lowest self and kept believing in me,” she said amid tears.

According to her, she embarked on the longest cooking marathon attempt “to look for an opportunity to change the story about her family, the North and the vilification Northern girls have been through.”

She continued, “I was willing to go on and on to die in that Kitchen for them.”

Chef Faila embarked on a 10-day cook-a-thon at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale from January 1, 2024, in an attempt to break the current 119-hour record held by Irish chef Alan Fisher with support from her assistant, Chef Malik Eric.
