The Civil and Local Government Staff Association (CLOGSAG) says it will resist partisan appointment and promotions of workers into the civil service by the new government.
According to CLOGSAG such acts will continue to undermine the neutrality of the civil service weakening its mandate to operate.
Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG Isaac Bampoe Addo was addressing civil servants to mark the end of 2024.
Since 2017, CLOGSAG has been concerned about the appointment of party apparatchiks into the civil service.
It also raised red flags with regard to the appointment of special assistants which CLOGSAG has made the work of civil servants cumbersome.
It petitioned the government through the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations but their concerns fell on deaf ears.
The government is changing over, and CLOGSAG has cautioned the incoming government against appointing and promoting workers along partisan lines.
The association has suggested union government address the problem of extreme partisanship in the fabric of society.
Again, CLOGSAG was extremely concerned about better working conditions for members of the civil service.
Although it has pushed for a new salary structure apart from the single spine salary structure, the government is yet to conclude negotiations on it.
Isaac Bampoe Addo assured members that the new salary structure will come to fruition soon.
Another area of concern to CLOGSAG is illegal small-scale mining (galamsey) activities which have decimated the environment.
The association through the execution has proposed that district and municipal assemblies should be strengthened to deal with this problem.
