Choose permanent jobs over unpaid allowances – Deputy Minority leader

The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle Constituency and Deputy Minority Leader, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has urged trainee nurses and midwives to prioritise permanent jobs over unpaid allowances.

Addressing a joint gathering of students of Essiama Nursing and Midwifery Training College and Asanta SDA Nursing and Midwifery School at Essiama, the Deputy Minority Leader said the government has been dishonest about the payment of the allowances that it promised trainee nurses and midwives.

He was speaking during a campaign tour of the vice presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, to the Ellembelle Constituency on Tuesday.

Mr Buah said even though the vice president, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has been insisting that the government has paid all arrears of allowances of trainee nurses, the reverse is the case.

He told the trainee nurses that the NPP government, after failing them, has hatched another plan to harvest their votes by sending them mobile money just before the elections.

He advised the students not to fall for the deception and urged them to collect whatever money the government sends them and still vote for John Dramani Mahama and NDC parliamentary candidates in the general elections.

The Deputy Minority Leader said the next NDC has elaborate plans to expand and build new healthcare facilities across the country and employ nurses, doctors and other health professionals.

Hon. Buah promised to provide free internet connectivity on the campuses of the two nursing and midwifery training colleges in the Ellembelle Constituency
