Five persons have been arrested by security personnel in connection with a renewed confrontation between Konkombas and Chokosis. Three of them were arrested on Saturday May 18 while the remaining two were arrested in the early hours of Sunday May 19. Twenty four (24) cartridges were retrieved from the suspect on Saturday at Tambo. Two single barrel guns and 49 more cartridges were retrieved from them on Sunday at Bonbaba, Northern Regional Police PRO DSP Yussif Tanko confirmed to editors.3news.com. “Around 9:00am Sunday 19/05/2019, a group of Konkombas went and burnt Kolli village near Nambiri a chokosi village in Saboba”. He added that the ”Chokosis also retaliated the attack by going to burn Nanduni, the already devastated village of the Konkombas”. All suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations. He assured the people that security patrols and monitoring have been enhanced to control any further reprisal. It will be recalled that on Thursday May 16, 2019 President Akufo-Addo as part of his two day tour of the North East Region appealed to the feuding factions in the area to commit themselves to peace.
