The national memorial service scheduled to be held on Wednesday, June 10 to mark the end of a three-day national mourning for victims of the flood-cum-fire disaster will now take place at the Forecourt of the State House, a statement from the Ministry of Communications has said.

The interdenominational service was originally scheduled to be held at surface zero of the explosion, which exacerbated impact of the flooding of the city on Wednesday, June 3.

It is unclear what informed the change of venue but the time of start remains unchanged.

“A National Memorial Service for victims of the June 3 flood and fire disaster will be held at the forecourt of the State House on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 8:30am,” opened the statement.

The disaster has left at least 150 persons dead with thousands displaced. Others also have been left injured.

Government announced a GH¢50 million support fund for victims. TV3 Network has also set up a GH¢10 million support fund for victims.

Wednesday’s service is expected to involve all Ghanaians.
