Catholic Diocese demands justice for priests assaulted (Open Letter to IGP)

The Catholic Diocese of Jasikan has released an open letter to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) demanding justice for three Catholic missionary priests who were assaulted in Nkwanta, Ghana on December 11, 2024.
The priests, of Indian nationality, were allegedly attacked by a group of young men at a fuel station while on their way to begin construction work. One priest sustained a broken eardrum and required medical attention in India.
The Diocese expresses disappointment in the lack of arrests despite clear video evidence of the assault. The letter raises concerns about potential bias against foreign nationals and questions the delayed response from Ghanaian authorities.
The Diocese emphasizes the importance of swift action to prevent further violence and strained relations between Ghana and India.
They urge the IGP to uphold the principles of justice and bring the perpetrators to book.
