Victims of the recent violent clashes between some youth groups and police personnel in Bawku have expressed deep gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, for his proactive intervention and efforts to restore calm in the troubled area.
The IGP on Friday, April 11, visited Bawku to assess the security situation firsthand and to engage directly with affected residents and community leaders.
His visit, which came in the wake of renewed tensions that left several individuals injured, was widely praised by both victims and local stakeholders as a much-needed gesture of leadership and empathy.
Several victims currently receiving medical treatment for gunshot wounds commended the IGP for his courage and commitment. They called on him to continue his peacebuilding efforts and ensure that sustainable solutions are found to the recurring conflict in Bawku.
Speaking on behalf of the youth, Mr. Ibrahim Iddrisu, President of the youth group, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Yohuno and his team.

“We are pleased with your coming and your words of peace and unity. We are encouraged by your hands-on approach and the attempt to pull everyone together for peace,” Mr. Iddrisu stated.
He further pledged the group’s willingness to work hand-in-hand with the police to promote peace and stability in Bawku.
The IGP’s visit comes as part of broader efforts by the Ghana Police Service to resolve tensions in the region and build trust between law enforcement and the community.
