President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reminded Ghanaians that his government remains resolute in its commitment to develop the country.

And whether or not they support his government, the pledge is to make sure that the resources are evenly distributed for the overall growth of the country.

His reaffirmation was at a durbar that climaxed the end of a week-long celebration of the Eluo Festival for the Chiefs and people of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area in the Western North Region.

His administration created the Western North Region after a long campaign for the separation of the Western Region and President Akufo-Addo is clear in his mind that the decision will, among many others, significantly contribute to the development of the region’s infrastructure while attracting the needed investment.

Already, there has been a significant improvement in roads, health facilities, classroom blocks, surge in employment among other projects currently under various stages of completion.

“I assure you that my government will do more for the Chiefs and people of this region,” the President assured.

Paramount Chief of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area, Katakyie Kwasi Bumagama II described as commendable, the idea to create the Western North Region.

He mentioned, for example, the construction of the Bencherma-Adjoafua road which had experienced several sod-cutting but had now reached an advanced stage of completion, the ongoing construction of Sefwi Wiawso town roads among many others and “praised Nana Addo and his government for the decision to create the new region”.

“The construction of the Regional Coordination Council Office, Zipline, Regional Police Command, State Housing Project, Regional Lands Commission, Regional Health Directorate at Bodi as well as a STEM school at Awaso are all there to show.

“So it is evidently clear the decision has been worth it,” the chief noted.

Western North Region is largely noted for cocoa growing and the Paramount Chief appealed to the President to establish a Cocoa Processing Industry at Sefwi Wiawso under his government’s One District, One Factory initiative.

The Fluo (Yam) festival is a period to showcase the rich culture of the area.

It is characterised by drumming and dancing which is intended to imbibe the culture of their ancestors in indigenes and non-indigenes.
