Afenyo-Markin is ‘mischievous’; wants to paint NIB bad- Amaliba on alleged theft at Addison’s house

The Director-General of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), Abraham Amaliba has dismissed claims of stolen cash and jewelries during raid on former BoG Governor, Ernest Addison’s home.

Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin on Thursday, March 20 alleged that following the raid on Addison’s home on Thursday dawn, an amount of GHC10,000 cash, ear rings and necklaces belonging to the former BoG’s wife were stolen by personnel of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).

Speaking on the matter in an interview on TV3’s New Day, March 21, 2025, Abraham Amaliba said the claimant of the alleged theft, Afenyo-Markin is a “mischievous person” whose intentions are to repute the image of the National Intelligence Bureau.

The NRSA boss wants the Minority leader to provide evidence for his claims.

“Let the maker of that statement prove it. Afenyo-Markin is a mischievous person I know; he has put this out there to paint the National Security bad. Where’s the evidence? He should provide evidence. You don’t just say things without evidence,” he stated.

However, Amaliba agreed with calls for a reform of the NIB, stating that instances where they detain persons and refuse legal representation or access to relatives is “unconstitutional and inhumane”.

“Where i agree with you is the opaque nature of their activities, as a lawyer i agree 100% with you. they will keep you refuse your lawyers and relatives to see you and for me is against the constitution and inhumane,” he added.
