About 1 million pupils sit on the floor to learn in Ghana – Apaak

Builsa South lawmaker, Dr Clement Apaak, has said that about 1 million pupils in Ghana sit on the floor to learn.

Dr Apaak said that this is acceptable.

Speaking in an interview with TV3’s Kemmini Amanor on the Hot Issues on Sunday, May 12, he stated that his flagbearer, Former President John Dramani Mahama, would eliminate the problem of furniture deficits in the basic schools in order to address this matter.

The ranking member on the parliament’s committee on education said “[John Mahama] will address the issue of the furniture shortage. As we speak now, we have a furniture deficit in excess of one million.

“What that means is that about one million of our wards go to school every day and they have to sit on the floor or sit on blocks to study. That clearly cannot be acceptable.”
