Four highway robbers have been arrested in an attempted robbery involving a fleet of commercial vehicles at Jejeti-Nkawanda in the Eastern Region on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
The Police and the locals in the area have launched a manhunt for more of the robbers who launched the attack Sunday evening at about 4:00pm. The gang is said to have blocked the road and fired into a VIP bus which first approached the scene, causing it to stop abruptly.

According to the Police, a security officer who was also traveling on the road at the time chanced on the incident and opened gunfire on the robbers causing them to flee. Some of them were said to have been hit.
Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yaw Nketiah Yeboad who confirmed the incident to tv3network.com said Police personnel arrived at the scene later and managed to arrest one of them who was hit.
He said the Police carried out a search into the nearby bush where the robbers were hiding and to arrested three of more there.
The Anyinan Police, he said, are currently combing the area for with the local residents in search of more of the robbers believed to be hiding around.
