NDC’s Kofi Adams offers to provide evidence in ex-GEPA boss probe

June 17, 2018
Kofi Adams

National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress Kofi Adams says his party is ready to provide “some more documentation” as evidence in the probe of the recently sacked Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Gifty Klenam.

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) reportedly invited Ms Klenam last week over allegations of corruption under her watch.

She is reported to have paid herself GH¢93,000 as clothing allowance and parted away with $72,000 as a two-year rent allowance.

Ms Gifty Kekeli Klenam was until recently the CEO of GEPA

Though these had been denied by GEPA, EOCO is said to be probing further.

Millennium Excellence Awards to set record in Ghana with 20th anniversary

This Mr Adams said should be “for once” an opportunity for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to crack the whip.

Speaking on TV3’s New Day on Saturday, Mr Adams stressed: “We know that the president has the heaviest whip in this country.”

He said this provides the president powers to exact punishment.

He, however, recalled with regret how the President’s actions have absolved some state functionaries of corruption.

He mentioned the case involving the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) Company Limited and the infamous expatriates awards programme by Millennium Excellence Foundation (MEF) – popularly known as Casf For Seats – as scandals the president missed to deal with.

“That is why I am saying that for once [President Akufo-Addo] should show to us he will deal with this [scandal].

“If they need some more documentations we can help them; we will help them with transfers etc.”
