There are hints that the election for the National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will go on as planned despite a court injunction secured by one of the disqualified aspirants.
Disqualified aspirant, Elikem Kotoko, secured injunction against the election which was scheduled for this weekend. This was after all the internal channel of resolving the issue failed.
However, the incumbent National Youth Organizer, Sidii Abubakar has revealed to Onua FM’s Yen Sempa that all preparations have been done, hence nothing will prevent the party from holding the elections.
“The election is going to be held on this weekend” he told host of the show Bright Kwesi Asempa Wednesday.
“I have received the green light that we should go ahead with our elections and everything is set. The congress is coming on. Nothing will stop the elections and we are going to Gomao Fetteh in the Central Region for the election on Saturday,” he stated.
Commenting on the development, Edwin Goke who is the spokesperson for the disqualified candidate, said that the injunction they secured has been served on all deserving national executives.
“We have secured the injunction. We requested that all activities relating to the youth be injunct but unfortunately, we could not secure injunction for all so currently, the debate is ongoing”, he explained.
He said the General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman, Kofi Portuphy and the party itself has been served with the notice of injunction.
Mr. Goke explained “the injunction will run till 27 October so the 27 October conference cannot come on and we know our party is law abiding so we don’t see the reason in anybody disobeying the court orders”.
