NDC presidential, parliamentary primaries slated for November 7

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has scheduled Saturday, November 7 as date on which to elect its 2016 presidential and parliamentary candidates.

The decision was reached at a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Thursday, August 13.

The NEC also confirmed that voting will involve all biometrically registered members of the party.

Member of Parliament-aspirants are expected to file their nominations – which will open between 27 August and 10 September – at GH¢10,000 with presidential aspirants paying GH¢50,000 as nomination fee.

The concurrency of the presidential and parliamentary primaries is to save time, according to General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who chaired Thursday’s NEC meeting.
