Six people were confirmed injured and are currently receiving medical attention at the Legon Hospital. According to the Communication Director of the NPP Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, the NDC plotted the incident with the view to discredit the credibility of the Electoral Commission and the results of the by-election. “This is masterminded to discredit the ongoing elections and prepare minds probably for what purposes we can’t tell, and this is to negatively damage the integrity of the Electoral Commission and the Government,” he stated at a news conference few minutes ago. Some heavily armed men in masks, said to be national security operatives, stormed a house behind the La-Bawaleshie Presbyterian Basic 1 School polling station where they allegedly fired some gunshots. The house is said to belong to the NDC candidate in the by-election, Delali Kwasi Brempong. Consequent to that incident, scores of party supporters besieged the party’s headquarters to express their anger at the violence that forced the party to withdraw from ongoing by-election.
