NDC in Majority chose approval of loans over RTI Bill – Patrick Boamah

The Member of Parliament for Okaikoi Central, Patrick Boamah has accused the Minority in Parliament of choosing the approval of loans over the passage of the Right to Information Bill when they were the Majority in Parliament. Debating the budget statement on the floor of Parliament, he expressed confidence in President Nana Akufo-Addo’s promise to ensure that the bill is passed. In the view of Patrick Boamah, the previous NDC administration was “corrupt and did drag” its feet in the passage of the RTI. “You had a Minister of State in charge of government business who should have ushered in the bill but you were not serious with that bill and that is how come it did not see the light of day.” He said the absence of the RTI law allowed corruption to fester under the previous government, which he said succeeded in driving away many investors. However, the Minority side shouted at him, as they referred to the fact that the NPP then in the Minority boycotted moves by the NDC government to pass bill into law. ___________________________________________________________________________
