The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr Richard Ahiagbah has said that the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been engaging in fear-mongering regarding the economic challenges.

He said the NDC behaves as they have an alternative solution to the economic challenges whereas they have nothing to offer to Ghanaians.

Mr Ahiagbah indicated that the Akufo-Addo administration recognises the pain inflicted on them by the Covdi 19 and the Russia-Ukraine war and is working to ameliorate the hardships.

In a tweet, Mr Ahiagbah said “There’s no denying the difficulties of our predicament brought on by the global misfortune of Covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war.

“The NPP and government recognizes the pain. But what is hard to fathom is the excessive fear-mongering of the NDC as thou they have alternative proposals. Nothing!”

His comments come after Ranking member on the Finance Committee of Parliament Dr Cassiel Ato Forson said he is available to assist the government to identify what he believes are wasteful expenditures in the 2023 budget and do away with them.

He stated that if the government is able to stop the frivolous expenditures, it will be able to rake in GH¢8billion and not touch the funds of individual bondholders.

“I am available to assist the government in identifying frivolous and wasteful expenditures in the budget to free-Up the needed 8billion so that individual bondholders are exempt!

“You can’t continue to live large on the savings of pensioners etc,” the Member of Parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam, tweeted on Tuesday January 17.
