NDC flagbearer aspirant withdraws to support Mahama

December 7, 2018

A flagbearer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Elikplim Lorlormavor Agbemava, has pulled the plugs on his dream by throwing his support for John Dramani Mahama.

“I know this is very much unexpected,” he stated in a release on Friday, December 7, 2018.

“However there is much wisdom in taking this decision. It is also in line with the majority of the views in our great party that he is the best person to lead us into battle come 2020.”

The private legal practitioner had declared his intention of contesting the January 26, 2019 primary but had not picked forms on December 3/4,when it was initially opened.

He had added his signature to a petition to the founder, Jerry John Rawlings, to have the filing fee reduced.

After the Council of Elders met the National Executive Committee (NEC), the fees were adjusted downward with the filing fee pegged at GH¢300,000 for abled-bodied aspirants.

Eight of the aspirants, particularly, were given Thursday, December 6 and Saturday, December 8 to pick forms.

But before the new deadline expires, Mr Agbemava said: “In the circumstances, I will not be picking up nomination forms by the deadline set by the National Executive Committee.

“I encourage my campaign team and all supporters to submit to the vision of the GO4JM Campaign for total and a resounding victory of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2020.”

He added that “we will lead at God’s appointed time”.
