file photo[/caption] The 13-member Prof. Kwesi Botchwey-led Committee set up by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to investigate circumstances that led to the abysmal showing of the party on 7th December 2016 continue to face attacks from some aggrieved youth of the party. Once again, the committee came under intense attack from some youth in the Eastern region, with some drawing out knives disrupting the planned meeting momentarily. A source close to the scene of the event said the Eastern regional executives had a hard time resolving what he described as ‘near lynching’ of the Committee members for the meeting to continue. The Prof. Kwesi Botchway led 13 member committee is in the Eastern region to hear from the members of the party at first hand, what may have caused the poor performance of the party in the region. According to the party’s program for the region, the committee is supposed to spend 4 days in the region base on how the region is zoned. This will enable the committee to be able to meet its objective. However, today being the 3rd day in the region, things got out of hands when some members of the party felt they were being prevented by the committee from speaking their mind. The aggrieved members started agitating leading to the display of some weapons, but were persuaded to calm down. After calm was restored, the source said the committee took a decision to exempt the regional executives from the rest of the meeting, Meanwhile, in a telephone conversation with the Eastern Regional National Democratic Congress Youth Organizer Apaw Wiredu Haruna, he confirmed that there was a temporal hold up during Thursday’s sitting but refuted that there was chaos, adding that it was not anything serious. “There was some form of misunderstanding because everybody at the committee’s sitting wanted to speak personally, as against the lay down agreement of only 6 persons representing a constituency. You know if we allow everyone to speak, then the committee will not end its sitting today, they have to be at zone 4 tomorrow, which comprises the Krobo enclave. We are working with human beings so at all cost some won’t be happy about one or two decisions, but everything is moving on now.”
