N/R: Yendi MP Farouk leads campaign to retain NPP chairman

Member of Parliament for Yendi Constituency Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama is leading a campaign to get the incumbent chairman of the Northern Region of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mohammed Adam Bantima Samba re-elected.

According to the lawmaker, the incumbent chairman is the right person to push the fortunes of the party in the region.

“He is one person who has changed the face of grassroots politics in Northern Region and maintaining him will boost our fortunes of breaking the 8 come 2024.

“I am not the only Member of Parliament from the north supporting the hardworking Samba but I am the lead champion because he is the right man for the job,” he added.

Alhaji Farouk Mahama predicted a 75 percent win for the incumbent chairman.

The Member of Parliament is expected to move round all 18 constituencies to campaign for the incumbent chairman.

He has on several platforms reiterated his support for the incumbent chairman.

Thirty-one aspirants are contesting 10 positions in the Northern Region.

Three hundred and eighty two delegates, made up of 17 constituency executives from 18 constituencies, 17 regional executives, nine MPs, 25 TESCON executives, 10 Council of Elders members, 10 Council of Patrons members, two founding members, and one national council member.

Three aspirants – Mohammed Adam Bantima Samba, the incumbent, Alhaji Amandu Inusah ‘Dagomba Boy’ and Ibrahim Mahama – are contesting the chairmanship position.

The elections will be held at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale on Friday, May 27.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Northern Region Elections Committee and MP for Karaga, Dr Mohammed Amin Anta, has admonished the aspirants to campaign with decorum.
