More die as Ghana records 795 new Covid-19 infections

The deaths continue to rise as Ghana’s Covid-19 cumulative cases reach 72,328.

In the latest case count released by the Disease Surveillance Department of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), 795 new cases were recorded between Thursday, February 4 and Friday, February 5.

As at Friday, February 5, the total number of fatalities is 472.

In all, 65,149 patients have either recovered or been discharged, leaving 6,707 persons currently with the disease.

Out of this number, 114 are in severe conditions while 34 are in critical conditions.

After over 800,000 tests conducted, the country’s positivity rate is 8.9 per cent.

Greater Accra Region has the highest number of patients as 3,431 persons are currently hospitalised. The Ashanti Region follows with 1,149 cases.

Aside the Western Region and Central Region with 548 and 258 active cases respectively, travellers into the country contain the high numbers of active cases. In all, 249 of them are currently with the disease.
