Work on the multipurpose sports complex being constructed by the government at Nyinahin in the Ashanti Region has reached 60 per cent and it is expected to be ready by June this year.
Youth and Sports Minister, lsaac Asiamah who toured the project site said he has been impressed by the progress and quality of work so far done on the 5,000 capacity sports complex.
The project houses a FIFA standard sized football pitch, tartan tracks, volleyball and basketball courts, ITC and counseling centres, restaurant and offices.
“I’m highly impressed with progress of work. The quality of work is great. I didn’t know a lot goes into the pitch construction-the irrigation system and all that,” he said in a post inspection interview.
“Certainly, this will create jobs for the youth in the community and surrounding areas as well as unearth talents. Few months from now, we are expecting president Akufo-Addo to commission the ten facilities aimed at providing platforms for the youth in the country,” he noted.
He said the work done goes to show that the promise to provide each of the 10 regions with sporting infrastructure “was not an empty promise.”
