Marwako manager demands Arabic interpreter

Jihad Chabaan[/caption] The Marwako Restaurant manager who is being tried for thrusting the face of a caterer into blended pepper, on Wednesday declined to open his defence on grounds of the language to be used. Although had listen to the prosecution’s case and evidence by the prosecution witnesses in English, Lawyers for the man, Jihad Chaaban, told the court their client is only fluent in Arabic language, hence would prefer an interpreter before he could mount the witness box to state his side of the case. According to the lawyers, the accused has also noticed some inconsistencies in his statement given to the Police, TV3’s Selorm Amenya reported. The court has meanwhile, granted the request, noting that it would officially write to the Judicial Council to request for an Arabic interpreter for the accused. The case stands adjourned until May 10. Chaaban aged 26, is before the Court for allegedly dipping the face of Ms Boakye into a blender of blended pepper at the Abelenkpe branch of Marwako Restaurant.
