Man sets stepmother and 5-month-old baby ablaze

A 25-year-old man is alleged to have set his stepmother and her five month old baby on fire at Shai Hills in the Greater Accra region.

The baby has since died but the woman, Magdalene Adetor, is currently responding to treatment at the Tema General Hospital.

The suspect, whose name has been given only as Emmanuel, set fire to his step mother’s room around 1:00 am on Sunday while the victim and her five month old baby were asleep.

Emmanuel was said to have doused Madam Adetor and her baby in petrol before using a match stick to start the fire, 3news.com has gathered.

The incident has since been reported to the police.

According to Samuel Magadzor, father of the victim, the incident was reported at the Afienya Police Station.

The police are yet to take a statement from the victim since she was unconscious as a result of the incident.

Mr. Magaszor confirmed to 3news that his daughter regained consciousness Wednesday, and that the police will visit the victim for her statement for investigations to commence into the case.
