Mahama wishes Rawlings happy 70th birthday

Former President Rawlings turns 70[/caption] As part of the 70th birthday celebration of former President Jerry John Rawlings, Former President John Dramani Mahama has wished him a happy anniversary. He wished him in a tweet on Thursday.

Flight Lieutenant (rtd) Rawlings was born on June 22, 1947 to Victoria Agbotui and James John Ramsey, a chemist from the United Kingdom. He is the Founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), a party led to the polls on two occasions by John Dramani Mahama. Mr Rawlings came to power in a coup d’etat in 1979. After handing over in 1979 to a civilian government, he returned on December 31, 1981 as the chairman of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC).
