The walk was to mark the 55th Republic Day anniversary.
President Mahama was joined by government functionaries including the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, his footballer son as well as 2012 Presidential Candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) Dr Abu Sakara for the walk.
The walk – 16th in the history of the Club – was held on the theme: “Keeping Fit in a Healthy Environment. The Role of All”.
Taking to Twitter a day after the walk, President Mahama said he managed to make it to church despite the aches and pains.
“Thanks #ElwakKeepfit,” he tweeted.
“Great 15km walk. Managed to make it to church this AM despite the aches & pains in leg muscles.”

President Mahama tweeted on Sunday afternoon
He, however, charged Ghanaians to undertake regular exercise in order to ward off the numerous “lifestyle” diseases currently plaguing a large chunk of the society.
“It is necessary for all of us to try and keep healthy by eating healthy, fresh fruits instead of the junk food that is served; by drinking pure, fresh drinks and then best of all keep yourself fit.”
