Mahama shakes up military hierarchy

President John Dramani Mahama has announced changes in the top hierarchy of the Ghana Armed Forces. 

A release from the presidency names Air Vice Marshall Samson Michael-Oje as the new Chief of Defence Staff, to replace Vice Admiral Matthew Quarshie, who has been appointed an ambassador. 

The other appointments made by President Mahama – who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces – see Air Commodore Maxwell Mantsebi-Tei Nagai named as Chief of Air Staff, Commodore Peter Kofi Faido as Chief of Naval Staff and Brigadier General Sampson Kudjo Adeti to be Chief of Staff at the General Headquarters.

Chief of Army Staff, however, remains Major General Richard Kwame Opoku Adusei, the release on Monday, January 4 concludes.
