Mahama requests Cantonments Bungalow as his “retirement home”

Former Prez. John Mahama[/caption] Former President John Dramani Mahama has requested from Nana Akufo Addo’s government that a bungalow located that Cantonments in Accra be given to him as his “official retirement home” and another facility located at Ridge also be given to him to use as his office. This was contained in a letter intercepted by signed by the former Chief of Staff under President Mahama, Julius Debrah and dated 19th December, 2016. The letter headlined “Residence/Office for H.E President John Dramani Mahama” read in part that “Reference to (Osafo-Marfo/Debrah) discussion on 19th December, 2016 on the above stated subject, we wish to indicated that H.E President John Dramani Mahama would like to have Bungalow No.3, Prestige Link, Cantonments, Accra and its adjoining facilities as his official retirement home.” The letter went on further to state that “H.E also wishes to have Bungalow No.6, 3rd Avenue, Ridge, Accra as his office.” It is however unclear whether this is going to be part of the ex-gratia of the former president whose retirement package has already been determined by the House of the Parliament as an article 71 office holder. An official response is however yet to be given to the request. By Martin Asiedu-Dartey||Ghana Twitter: @3newsgh  ]]>
