Mahama ‘proud’ of Armed Forces after Friday’s emergency landing

President John Dramani Mahama has praised the Ghana Armed Forces for what could have been a tragic event for the country last Friday.

The helicopter in which the president as well as his wife, Lordina, was traveling had to make a precautionary landing at Apatrampa, a suburb of Kumasi, due to bad weather.

The Ghana Air Force MH-17 later flew the first couple back to Accra safely.

Taking to Twitter after the eventful flight, President Mahama lauded the dexterity of the pilots especially a female at the controls.

“I feel great pride for our armed forces,” he tweeted.

“Great intuition shown by our heli pilots. I feel so proud. And at the controls was a woman.”
