Mahama confident of NDC future given ‘competitive’ elections

John Dramani Mahama led the NDC in the 2012 & 2016 elections

Former leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama is wishing aspirants in the regional elections the best of luck as executives are chosen on Saturday.

He acknowledges that the “competitive spirit” and “enthusiasm” that have characterised the run-up to the elections augurs well for the future of the NDC.

“The competitive spirit & enthusiasm gives cause for confidence about the bright future of our party.”

This was contained in a tweet on Saturday.

The NDC is electing the executives to handle the 10 regions as part of its reorganization process to fight again for power in 2020.

The process started with branch elections and then constituency elections.

After Saturday’s exercise, the party will turn attention to the national executive elections to be held in October.

The process will be climaxed with the election of the 2020 flagbearer on December 7, 2018.

Already, Mr Mahama, who was president of Ghana from 2012 to 2017, has given notice of contesting to lead the party again.

He describes his intention as a duty to God to return the NDC to power.
