“I will take that word from President [Jerry John] Rawlings or President [John Agyekum] Kufuor,” President Mahama protested on Monday, November 16.
He observed that those referring to him as incompetent have not occupied any positions close to the presidency to tag him as such.
“What do you know about competence?” he questioned during a rally of the Greater Accra Region branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the Trade Fair International Center.
“Some of them in the offices they occupied, they should show us the competence they displayed.
“My competence is not for them to judge. It is for the people of Ghana to judge.”
Members of the opposition have at countless fora referred to the “incompetence” of the Mahama-led administration as cause of the country’s economic woes.
Opposition leader Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for instance, has described as “spectacular” Ghana’s failure under Mahama-led government.
But President Mahama said: “I know that come 7th November, 2016, the people of Ghana will judge my competence and they will give me a second term in office and NDC will win another victory by the grace of almighty God.”
