Madagascar qualify for maiden Afcon

Madagascar has become the first nation to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, following a 1-0 win over Equatorial Guinea in their Group A qualifier on Tuesday. A Njiva Rakotoharimalala strike in the first half of the game in Antananarivo was enough to send the Bareas to their first major senior tournament. They have two games in hand. The South African nation is likely to be joined by Senegal, who are behind in the group. The feat will come as a joy to the island nation, whose national is the President of the Confederation of African Football (Caf). Ahmad Ahmad toppled long-time Caf President Issa Hayatou in 2017 to head the confederation. Madagascar have a total points tally of 10 while the Teranga Lions have 7 points. Equatorial Guinea have 3 points while Sudan have no point. Source:|Ghana]]>
