LPG Parliament Candidate criticises party over support for women

Parliamentary Candidate for the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) for the Ayawaso Central Constituency Gifty Hammond has lamented the lack of support from the party to women within the rank and file.

According to her, the LPG promised a lot of support for them but with what they received, it is not enough.

“My major challenge is the support women in politics receive, we do not get much attention, much support and the backup we need to achieve,” she said on the Women’s Take hosted by Natalie Fort on 3FM.

“We were promised support and we got posters and flyers and that is all we got. Liberal Party [of Ghana] gave a lot of women opportunity but they do not support them.

“Sincerely speaking if you look at what is happening, women are used as bait in all the political parties.”

She revealed that her family has been the major source of her funds for the campaign activities..

“My family has been my major source of income,” she said.

If she wins the polls, she said, she will ensure that the markets in the constituency are given facelifts.

“If I win the MP seat the markets will be neatly put up, there will be market clinics there, and it will have emergency gadget there,” she stated.
